In a long road game, the Basile Bearcats came out swinging. However, the White Castle Bulldogs were not phased by the opening blow.

The Bearcats opened the game with an onside kick. They recovered the ball and then made the most of it. A short drive was capped by a one-yard touchdown run from Dylan Matte.

The Cats found the end zone on their next possession. Quarterback Matt Pruitt rolled to the right on a bootleg play. He found big Nick Bertrand floating across the field on a 24-yard touchdown pass. Logan Langley added his second extra point kick of the night, making it a 14-0 contest.

“I think we fired them up with that surge,” said Basile Head Coach Tony Bertrand. “After that, they nearly scored at will.”

The Bullldogs rattled off 55 straight points. They did it in combinations as well. They scored 14 points on interception returns and several on long runs from their very talented running back.

Basile’s 54-14 loss puts them at 4-1 on the season. They begin district play next week with a road game against the Hamilton Christian Warriors.
