Area Evangeline Parish students exhibited their artwork in Alexandria recently, according to local art instructor Waven Boone. The students participated in the First Annual Gallery House Children and Student Summer Art Exhibit at the Alexandria Gallery House. The show opened July 15, and featured over 100 entries from children, ranging from age four to 17. The reception was held from 4 to 8 p.m. that evening and was featured on Alexandria’s channels five and three. The gallery hopes to continue these exhibits each year to help promote youth interest in the arts. Darbonne, a senior at Pine Prairie High School, placed third in the teen category. Brunet is a sophomore at Pine Prairie, and Williams is a fourth grader at Ville Platte Lower Elementary.
