A woman allegedly had a wad of money when stopped for reckless driving. Unfortunately for her, the cash was counterfeit.

According to Acadia Parish officers, Jessica E. Stelly, 23, of Church Point was pulled over Thursday night for allegedly driving in a reckless manner.

Upon further inspection, an Acadia Parish deputy allegedly found $6,000 worth of fake bills.

Apparently the money was in $100 bills, because Stelly was charged with 60 counts of monetary instrument abuse. She also was charged with illegal display of a license plate and improper lane usage.

The Secret Servicer was contacted and assisted in the investigation, officers said.

There has been a rash of counterfeiting incidents in Acadiana recently, with a Vermillion Parish couple arrested recently in connection with them.
