Fire destroys Grand Prairie home

Over 20 firefighters from Fire District Two, Ward One, and the City of Ville Platte responded to a house fire<!--break--> at the home of Joseph Fontenot, 7627 Grand Prairie Road, at approximately 8:08 p.m. Fire Chief Ted Demoruelle said the homeowners did not have insurance. The cause of the fire was still under investigation. He said firefighters remained on the scene until daylight Saturday, checking the area and watching it to make sure the fire did not reignite. Eight trucks responded to the scene. Heavy smoke and fire damage was reported as firefighters battled the blaze.
