ROTAN, Texas – Janice Marie Hornsby Stocks, 55, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother died peacefully surrounded by her family and friends on Tuesday, August 26, 2008. Janice was born January 30, 1953 in Rayne, Louisiana to RC and Marie Hornsby. She grew up and attended school in Crowley, Louisiana. Janice later relocated to the Houston, Texas area where she met and married Chris Stocks, who shared her love of fishing. She had many hobbies that she always did well from crafts, ceramics, cross stitch to gardening but her biggest love was always fishing. She was also an animal lover and for many years she raised and showed Himalayan and Persian cats.

Her father, RC Hornsby precedes her in death.

Janice is survived by her loving husband, Chris L. Stocks (Beach City, Texas); two daughters, Christi Ray and husband, Don (Katy, Texas) and Dana Ellis (Austin, Texas); six grandchildren, Skylar O’Toole (Richland, Wa), Haleigh O’Toole (Katy, Texas), Kelsey O’Toole (Katy,Texas), Madelyn Ellis (Austin, Texas), Stuart Ray (Austin, Texas) and Robin Ray (Houston); mother, Marie Hornsby (Lafayette); siblings, Marshall Hornsby (Midland, Texas), Debbie Touchet and husband Dwayne (Lafayette), Mark Hornsby and wife Suzanne (Bossier City); father-in-law, Robert Stocks and wife Bonnie of El Dorado, Ark. and her mother-in-law, La Verne Stocks of El Dorado, Ark. Also, not to be forgotten are her numerous nieces and nephews along with her cherished friends and extended family members.

Janice had a heart of gold and was dearly loved by all who knew her. She never met a stranger and never missed an opportunity to help others in their time of need. We will all miss her very much.

The Memorial Service has been arranged for Saturday, October 11 at 4 p.m. at Elizabeth Memorial Baptist Church in Branch.
