BAYOU CHICOT - Funeral services were held for Robert “Bob” Causey, 64, of Port Barre, at Calvary Baptist Church in Bayou Chicot at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 27. Burial followed in the Vandenburg Cemetery.
A wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, Mr. Causey died Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Opelousas General Hospital. Known as “Bob” to all who knew him, he served his country proudly in the United States Army National Guard. He retired after 27 years with the St. Landry Parish School Board. Coaching was his life, along with his love for his family, and he was known by everyone as “Coach Causey.”
Survivors include his loving wife of 16 years, Genny Causey of Port Barre; two sons, Robert Causey and his wife, Amy, of Katy, Texas, and Dane Mengarelli of Lafayette; three daughters, Leslie Newman and her husband, Reid, of Columbus, Ohio, Melody Rodney of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Bria Majors and her husband, Anthony, of Satsuma; one sister, Lillian Jo Edwards and her husband, Keith, of Bayou Chicot; his father in-law and best friend, Leroy Leger of Port Barre; four grandchildren, Jacob Newman, Luke Newman, Kaitlyn Causey and Austin Causey; and numerous nephews, nieces and extended family. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Andrew and Essie Deville Causey.
