The engagement of Miss Britni Nicole Charlie to Mr. Donald “Donnie” Gregory Martin, the son of Thomas Gregory Martin and Karen Sprute Martin of Bossier City, has been announced by her parents, Craig and Debbie Charlie of Ville Platte.

The couple will exchange wedding vows Saturday, September 8, 2012, during a 6:30 p.m. ceremony at the Point-aux-Loups Springs Ballroom in Iota.

Miss Charlie, whose mother is the former Debbie Fontenot of Ville Platte, is the granddaughter of Mary Ann (Thompson) Fontenot of Ville Platte.

A 2004 graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Ville Platte, she received a degree in nursing with a minor in psychology from Louisiana College in Pineville in 2009. She is currently employed as a trauma ICU registered nurse at the Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

Mr. Martin’s mother is the former Karen Sprute of Bossier City. He is the grandson of Johanna Wolf Sprute, the late Sidney “Sam” Sprute, the late D.B. Martin and the late Dorothy Thurber Martin.

A 2002 graduate of Airline High School in Bossier City, he received a degree in finance from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston in 2006. He is an alumnus of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and is currently employed as a field estimator with Affirmative Insurance Holdings in the Dallas, Texas, area.
