Recreation and activity professionals in skilled nursing settings must meet many specific demands to satisfy the documentation requirements for room-bound patients and residents. “Room-bound” is a common, although inadequate, catch-all term used to describe individuals whose recreational and psychosocial needs are not met through group recreational programs. Some individuals prefer not to attend group activities, are uninterested in attending or are unable to attend. Conversations with family members or friends are often necessary to discover potential activity interests or pleasures for residents who cannot communicate. The bed-bound are visited in-room at least twice a week and are given special attention and bedside activities of choice. All bedside activities and stimulation are documented per state regulations. State surveyors are known to cite deficiencies based on failure to meet the needs of room-bound patients/residents. Documentation is the best way for surveyors to know that they are taken care of.

Activities this week include in-room visits, rosary, pokeno, manicures, mass, bingo, group exercise, jingo, music by T-Rob and resident birthday party.

The staff of Heritage Manor would like to welcome Claney Fontenot and Gwenda Johnson to the facility.
