The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Sacred Heart of Jesus Court #1674, held a meeting and Christmas social at the Our Lady Queen of All Saints Family Life Center Wednesday, December 7. A short meeting was conducted by Regent Tina Dupre and she welcomed guests District Regent Betty Soileau and Norma Hargroder, both of Opelousas. Dupre reminded members to be thinking about who they would choose as Catholic Daughter of the Year before the January meeting. The winner will be announced at the annual New Member Installation Banquet set for February 1, 2012.

The Louisiana Right to Life March will be held January 21, 2012, in Baton Rouge. The March for Life in Washington, D.C., will be held Monday, January 23, 2012.

Ramona Ortego read thank you notes for the spiritual bouquets sent to the ill or bereaved families by the Catholic Daughters. A thank you card was received from the Desormeaux Center in Lafayette in response to the court's donation to help prevent abortion.

Dupre thanked the CDA members for bringing food items and gifts for needy children. The Catholic Daughters will be giving Christmas food baskets for needy families. Anyone wishing to donate non-perishable food items for these baskets can contact Dupre (363-1137) or Leah Hollier (363-1936).

A covered dish Christmas social followed the meeting. Dupre dressed up as Mrs. Claus and wished everyone in attendance a Merry Christmas.
