Funeral services will be held for Linton Chapman Sr., 83, of Ville Platte, at Ninth Baptist Church in Ville Platte at 6 p.m., Sunday, August 28. Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, August 29, 2011, in the New Hope Cemetery.

Mr. Chapman died Thursday, August 25, 2011, at Opelousas General Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Chapman of Ville Platte; four daughters, Mary Campbell of Houston, Texas, Vena Veal of Hammond, Hester Popillion of Eunice and Annie Bradley of Ville Platte; four sons, Linton Chapman Jr. of Morgan City, Raymond Chapman Sr. of Eunice, Hilton Chapman of Ville Platte and Milton Chapman of Baton Rouge; 16 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

Rev. Mekell Toussaint will officiate.

Owens-Thomas Funeral Home of Ville Platte will be in charge of arrangements.
