The Cajun Wings State Rally landed in Ville Platte this year, and brought with it 53 visitors hailing from 11 different states, including Mississippi, Texas, Colorado, Connecticut, New York, Maryland, West Virginia, Tennessee and Florida.

The Cajun Wings State Rally brings visitors from around the country to small towns in Louisiana, and this year, Ville Platte was the place to be. Visitors were taken to the Ville Platte Civic Center for “A Taste of Ville Platte,” where they were able to sample cuisine from a variety of local restaurants, and the Swamp Pop Museum, where they were able to listen to and learn about the unique style of music that originated in Evangeline Parish.

At the civic center, visitors sampled boudin, cracklins, hog head cheese, crawfish bisque, sauce picante, seafood fettuccini, smothered sausage, tasso, cornbread dressing, jambalaya and even barbecue.

Food exhibitors were Ha You Want It Seasoning, Jack Miller’s Food Products, Mikey’s Donut King, Papa Gator’s Cajun Seasoning, Papa Gator’s Camp Dog Cajun Seasoning, Cock’s Tail Restaurant, Tee Cotton Bowl (represented by Jesse Muse), Paul’s Meat Market, The Rendezvous Dinner Club, Slap Ya Mama and Teet’s Food Store.

There were also booths set up for arts and crafts, including C&E (Cinama Edwards), Vietname Veterans of America, Chapter #632, Lula Chapman and Jane Duos.
