I can’t even begin to tell you all how good it is to be here and tell you all some of the good things that have been going on around our house. We had an outstanding birthday party. I’m not going to lie to you, I counted three cakes and two pies. That’s all I could count before my stomach said, “Boy, stop counting and start eating.” And I did. Now the nurses bet on how far they could roll me down the hallway (without the wheelchair.) I make the Pillsbury Doughboy look like he is a member of Weigh Watchers. We “took” a little trip to the Big Easy. We had their beads and hats on. It did look like downtown New Orleans. We had virgin hurricanes, fried chicken, everything you associate with New Orleans, except that no one got mugged in the dining room.
I cannot praise our dieticians and cooking staff enough. When you stop and think about it, they are preparing over 200 meals a day. Some are regular diets and some have special, restricted diets etc. So you can imagine the task they face on a daily basis and they still make it taste good. What a great job! Thank you!
We are finally getting pet visitations going thanks to Eileen Turner, the director of nursing. What a fantastic lady! She has done so much for us here at Savoy Care Center. On your next visit, stop and talk to us if you would like to bring a pet and make it a point to visit Ms. Turner. As busy as she is, she will make the time to sit and talk with you. She is always wanting new ideas and just general input. She is a remarkable person and I guarantee you will enjoy your visit with her.
I just had a great idea (please take advantage of this, it doesn’t happen often - my great ideas I mean.) Even if you don’t have a loved one here at our house, you are still welcome to come by and visit, shoot the breeze (not Drew Brees for God’s sake!) and see how things go on around here at our house. I think you will be impressed and we would welcome the company.
